Fierce protests against energy monopoles and government

Tuesday (February 19, 2013) evening’s protests in Bulgaria against energy monopoles and the government’s policy grew into disorders.

During the protests in Sofia the police detained 11 persons and another 25 after the protest march was over. The multitude was penetrated by people stirring nonconformity and aggressive actions against the police and despite the calls of the protesting that people should not give in to such provocations, some of them lost control.

There are injured people, among whom two policemen. A police bus and two gendarmerie vehicles have been damaged. A police patrol car has been completely destroyed. Protests were on in many other towns and cities across the country.
