Georgian defense minister expects support of Turkey

Georgian Defense Minister Irakly Alasania met his Turkish counterpart Ismet Yilmaz and expressed hope that Turkey would continue supporting Georgia for NATO integration. Alasania noted that Georgia was still devoted to Euro-Atlantic security, confirming the statement by participation in the ISAF mission in Afghanistan.

The ministers discussed bilateral relations and prospects for further developments.

Alasania had arrived in Turkey together with Brigadier-General Vakhtang Kapanadze, deputy head of the Joint Staff. The sides plan to organize a meeting of Army General Necdet Ozel, Chief of General Staff, and Oguz Kagan Koksal, chairman of the defense committee.
