Russia media suspect coup preparations against Georgian PM

Some Russian media sources have published information from Irakly Batiashvili, former head of the Georgian Bureau for Information and Intelligence, stating that a group of former Georgian functionaries, including law enforcers abroad, was planning elimination of Prime Minister Bidzina Ivanishvili, RIA Novosti reports.

The Georgian Interior ministry has not commented on the information yet.

Ivanishvili’s Georgian Dream coalition won the parliamentary polls on October 1, 2012. Dozens of high-ranking law enforcing authorities left the country. This includes Justice Minister Zurab Adeishvili, head of the department for constitutional security of the Interior Ministry Data Akhalaya and his deputy Soso Topuridze.
