Bulgarian military contingent in Afghanistan reduced

A total of 217 troops along with 6 officers from the 23rd Bulgarian contingent returned to this country after the success of their mission within NATO operation to Kabul, Afghanistan.

The seventh and last company for actions in the terrestrial area of the Kabul Airport is also part of the contingent. 83 Bulgarian troops will remain in Kabul and 355 are still located in Kandahar. Defense Minister Anyu Angelov said at the welcoming of the military personnel that the mission of the Bulgarian contingent in NATO’s Kabul operation was accomplished in an excellent manner.

The 23rd contingent participated in the mission of ISAF. «All commanding officers of the Bulgarian troops assessed highly their efforts during my two visits to Afghanistan,» the minister went on to say.
