Romania supports Nabucco project

Romania was and will remain a reliable and active partner of the Nabucco project and welcomes all agreements on cooperation with Shah Deniz consortium, made in Vienna.

This information has been announced in the communiqué of the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The project of Nabucco gas pipeline construction, bypassing Russia and initiated by the European Union, must become a part of the Southern gas-transport corridor. Project’s main purpose is to diversify the supply of energy resources.

At present the project provides for the supply of Azerbaijan gas through Shah Deniz II Company to Turkey, Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary, and Austria. The total length of the gas pipeline will be approximately 1300 km, being almost thrice shorter than the original variant of Nabucco (3300 km).
