Protests demanding resignation of Saakashvili resume in Georgia

About a hundred representatives of non-governmental organizations participated on January 21 in a rally in Tbilisi, demanding the resignation of Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili.

Representatives of Georgian NGOs were joined by ordinary citizens. The participants in the rally pitched tents in front of the presidential residence. At the same time, protesters continue to collect signatures for the resignation of Saakashvili. The number of signatures has already exceeded one million.

As previously reported by Vestnik Kavkaza, the protesters claim that Saakashvili's term expired on Sunday, five years after his inauguration. However, according to the constitution, the next presidential elections will take place only in October.
