«Chernomorneftegaz» secured the Crimea with own natural gas by 65%

According to blackseagas.com, in 2012 the natural gas extraction at the Black Sea and Azov Sea shelf ensured the Crimean consumers’ needs by 65 %. This result is by 12% higher than the results of 2011.

The total of 1.8 billion cubic meters of gas was taken away from the peninsula gas-transport system. At that, the natural gas extraction at the Black Sea and Azov Sea shelf amounted to 1.17 billion cubic meters.

The preliminary plans suggested to raise the provision of peninsula gas consumers with own gas from 53% to 56%. However, the growth in the yearly extraction up to 1.174 billion cubic meters instead of the previously planned 1.155 billion cubic meters and the reduction in the gas consumption rates by the Crimean customers led to the provision level of 65%.

«Chernomorneftegaz» plans to reach the 100% level in 2014, when natural gas extraction at the Black Sea and Azov Sea shelf rises to 2.42 billion cubic meters. At that, according to the forecasts, gas consumption in the Crimea will not exceed 2 billion cubic meters.
