2013 is declared the European Year of citizens in Moldova

The decision was taken at a cabinet meeting. Earlier, the European Commission had proclaimed the current year as the European Year of citizens.

To this end, Prime Minister Vlad Filat ordered to develop an action plan: «The plan is to focus on conducting information campaigns and a more active dialogue with the youth, including in terms of social integration and support of the young people not yet employed.»

According to Vesti.md, this year, Moldova plans to sign an association agreement with the EU and agreement on the establishment of a free trade zone. Authorities also intend to push through simplification of the visa regime with the EU.
