650,000 signatures collected for early resignation of Saakashvili

Georgian social activists have collected more than 650 thousand signatures calling for the early resignation of President Mikheil Saakashvili.

The information was provided by Michael Andguladze, the head of «Unanimity of the Public Right» an organisation that is one of the initiators of this action.

The civil society activist said that signatures were gathered across the country, and «these 650 thousand signatures express the will of the majority of the population (Georgia's population is about 4.5 million - VK) who believe that Saakashvili should resign.»

The head of another social movement - «Tetrebi» - Temur Shashiashvili, said today that «January 20 marks five years since Saakashvili's second inauguration as president, so he should resign.»

Mikheil Saakashvili has repeatedly said that he does not intend to resign early and plans to hold his position until the presidential elections in autumn 2013.
