USAID to invest 40 million dollars into Georgian agriculture

In the nearest years the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) will invest 40 million dollars into Georgian agricultural industry, said Georgian Minister of Agriculture David Kirvalidze on October 18 at the press conference, based on the results of the visit to the US.

«This stage is used to define the priorities; however, we can already say that the major part of the assistance will be directed to the project of the irrigation system improvement. The list of priorities also includes the development of private service centers for farmers – at present Georgia has 21 centers like this and their number must be increased», - Kirvalidze informed.

Giving evaluation on his visit to the USA, David Kirvalidze noted that starting from 2013 the Ministry of Agriculture, along with the National Wine Agency of Georgia, would launch an intensive marketing campaign for popularization of the Georgian wine.
