Greece builds 10-kilometer wall at Turkish border

Greece has built a 10-kilometer wall from Kastanies to River Maritsa at the Turkish border to stop illegal migration. It will be patrolled by Frontex border guards, RIA Novosti reports.

The wall costs 3.2 million euro. 6,000 cubic meters of concrete, 800 tons of steel and 370km of barbed wire were used to construct the wall.

20 migrants died and 8 went missing last week in an attempt to enter Greece through the straits.

Greece has hundreds of thousands of migrants. About 60,000 of them were detained in Athens. The bill granting citizenship to illegal migrants’ children born in Greece was lifted.
