The corporative procedures for concluding the gas supply and transit contracts for 2013 are currently being completed, acording to a press release by the joint venture Moldovagaz.

The gas-providing enterprise says the gas supply and transit agreements will be extended for 2013. The sides involved in negotiations believe this is an advantageous and acceptable solution. The contracts will be coordinated by the enterprise's Management Board and Board of Observers. Subsequently, the contracts will be signed by the chairman of the company's Management Board, Alexandr Gusev and its deputy chairman, Alexandr Medvedev.

Moldovan Deputy Prime Minister, Economics Minister Valeriu Lazar will meet Russian Energy Minister Aleksandr Novak in Moscow on December 14. The officials will hold a second round of talks on the intergovernmental project on energy cooperation.

The project was approved by the Moldovan government and was presented to the Russian side in September 2012. The prolongation of the gas supply and transit contracts for 2013 will be also discussed.

The old contract, which expired on 31 December 2011 was extended until 31 December 2012 and will be extended for 2013 as well. Moldova is currently importing Russian gas at a 391-dollar price for one thousand cubic meters. In early September, officials announced that Moldova could benefit from a five-dollar discount for the gas price in the first quarter of 2013, and a 20-dollar discount for the entire year.
