Moldovan premier, Qatar's emir discuss cooperation relations

Prime Minister Vlad Filat held on December 11, 2012 a meeting with Qatar's Emir Sheik Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani in Doha, the government's communication and press relations department has reported.

Filat thanked the Qatari side for hosting the Moldovan delegation, noting that the visit to Qatar is very important for the bilateral relations and will lay foundations on a long lasting and mutually advantageous relation. Also, Filat thanked the State of Qatar for the assistance amounted to 98,000 dollars provided to the victims of the floods hit in 2010.

For his part, the emir welcomed the signing by the two countries of many agreements that will give a new impetus to the bilateral ties in the economic cooperation, investments promotion and removal of visa regime for the holders of the diplomatic and special passports, tourism promotion, as well as in the sports sector. He assured on his country's support in using the existent investment potential.

The sides agreed on opening of a permanent diplomatic representative in Qatar, which will be the first Moldovan embassy in the Persian Gulf.

Filat and Sheik Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani expressed interest in strengthening the cooperation in various sectors, such as agriculture, industry, infrastructure, education and sport.
