Moldovan premier participated in CIS heads of states' summit

Prime Minister Vlad Filat participated in a summit of the Council of the CIS Heads of States, held in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan on December, 5, 2012, the government's communication and media relations department has reported.

Filat was accompanied by the secretary general of the presidential staff, Ion Paduraru, and Deputy Foreign and European Integration Minister Andrei Popov.

The participants held bilateral and extended meetings. The agenda included cooperation between the CIS states in: economic, humanitarian, energy security, ecology and environment protection, etc. At the end of the meeting, the participants signed a range of documents on the development of economic, social, cultural and humanitarian cooperation within the CIS.

During the meeting, Vlad Filat exchanged views with Russian President Vladimir Putin, with Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych and with Azerbaijani Prime Minister Artur Rasi-Zade.

The heads of the official delegations agreed that Belarus will take over the CIS chairmanship in 2013.

Moldova's trade turnover with the CIS member states (excluding Moldova's eastern districts) was 1.227 billion dollars in January-June, 2012.
