Romania among countries with the highest percentage of poor

According to Eurostat data, the level of poverty and social vulnerability of Europeans has grown to 24%. Of the 119.6 million people from the EU 27 countries, 24% are in the risk zone of social vulnerability and poverty.

In 2011, the highest percentage of people who are at the brink of poverty, has been registered in Bulgaria (49%), Romania and Latvia (40%), Lithuania (33%), Greece and Hungary (31%), and lowest in the Czech Republic (15%), the Netherlands and Sweden (both 16%), Luxembourg and Austria (both 17%).
