Bulgaria abstains in UN Palestine vote

Bulgaria has abstained during Thursday's vote at the UN General Assembly on granting the status of observer state to Palestine.

The decision was said to be motivated by a thorough analysis of the situation and the fact that the resolution could be an impediment to peace negotiations. Bulgaria calls for a dialogue between Palestina and Israel. Foreign Minister Nikolay Mladenov said that Bulgaria continues to supports the Palestinian right for self determination and added this country recognised the State of Palestina in 1988.
