Moldovan working group to monitor state institutions' activity in national security

A working group will be responsible for reorganizing the Supreme Security Council (CSS) and will monitor the state institutions' activity in the national security. President Nicolae Timofti made the statement at the end of a CSS meeting on November 26.

Timofti said that the participants in the meeting approached many issues, including the reform of the Supreme Security Council and the need for a more efficient monitoring activity of the institutions responsible for the national security.

«Many officials do not know their duties in this sector», Timofti said.

Timofti noted that the sides decided that the council should have new competences, which will allow a better monitoring of the relevant institutions and will lead to a clear delimitation of the responsibilities of the state institutions in the national security.

Attending the meeting were Defence Minister Vitalie Marinuta and president's advisor on national defence and security issues Alexei Barbaneagra. The last meeting of the CSS was held on 15 October 2012.
