Underground University Square parking inaugurated in Bucharest

The underground parking at University Square in downtown Capital was inaugurated on November 15, being the first objective of this kind built in Bucharest in public-private partnership, offering parking places for 425 cars and 21 motorcycles.

Bucharest Mayor Sorin Oprescu said that in the Capital's historic center a second car park will be built in the southern area, towards the Dambovita River bank.

Oprescu also mentioned the upcoming works on underground parking on the nearby Edgar Quinet street, which would have offer 320 parking places and would be linked to the Intercontinental Hotel car park, which would also be managed by Belgian Interparking company.

The car park has three levels and is equipped with state-of-the-art technology.

The costs of the work amount to 10 million euros, fully paid by the constructor. The parking has been leased for 39 years by Interparking.
