One more party appears in Moldova

The constituent congress of a new political organization – the Moldovan People’s Party (MPP) – was held in Chisinau on November 17.

Its 345 delegates from 29 territorial organizations elected four MPP Co-Chairpersons – former leaders of the Moldova Noastra Alliance (MNA) Alexandru Oleinic and Valeriu Cosarciuc, head of the MPP Soroca Raion organization Angela Cibotari and head of the MPP Riscani Raion organization Vasile Gutu.

The congress set the main directions of the party’s activities – development of the national economy and struggle against poverty and corruption. Among main priorities the congress declared the need for introducing one common tax on agricultural production.

The MPP leadership believes the party may well decide to take party in the next ordinary parliamentary elections in 2014-2015.

The Moldovan People’s Party was registered officially yet in April 2011, when the Ministry of Justice was headed by Alexandru Tanase, who currently chairs the Constitutional Court. That event gave food for suppositions that in a due time the party might come to be headed by Tanase himself.
