Christmas fast started

The Christmas fast has started on November 15. This 40-day fast is often called «the forties of Apostle Philip» as it begins immediately after the day of Apostle Philip, November 14.

The fast was established relatively late to honor the birth of the Savior. The aim is for Christians to get cleansed through repentance, prayer and fasting and meet the birth of the Son of God with clean soul and body. The Christmas fast is not as strict as the Easter one as there are several days during which eating fish is allowed.
