Anders Fogh Rasmussen calls upon Georgian president and prime minister to cooperate

NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen has called on the Georgian president and prime minister to cooperate. He stated this at a joint press conference after a meeting with Bidzina Ivanishvili.

«The Prime Minister and I have had a very positive and very constructive meeting this morning. Georgia is a close and committed partner for NATO. The country has recently doubled its contribution to Afghanistan and aspires to join the alliance. I welcome the acknowledgment of the fact that Georgian government remains committed to this aspiration,» Rasmussen said.

According to him, the October elections in Georgia were free and transparent.

The secretary general called on all parties in Georgia to preserve and strengthen the democratic process, which entails respect for the rule of law, the constitution and democratic standards.
