Lower interest of Bulgarian students for studies in USA

During the academic 2011/2012 the number of Bulgarian students to the USA has gone down by 13.4%.

From 1957 students in 2010/2011 their number is down by 260, shows data from the American Institute for Foreign Study. This reduction started after Bulgaria became member of the EU and the flow of students changed direction towards West European universities.

One of the reasons is that access to European universities is much easier, while going to the USA requires a visa.
