In the last five years Romania drew only one third of European funds

For the last five years (from 2007 till 2012) Romania has drawn only € 2.39 billion from the total financial assistance (€ 7.34 billion), provided by the European Commission for village development projects.

These data have been announced by Nicolae Popa, one of the executives of the Rural Development Funding Agency.

He has noted that «by October 2013 Romania plans to draw another € 1.5 billion of these EU funds».

According to N. Popa, the agency has already received more than 139 thousand applications from economic agents, wishing to use European development funds.

The total volume of the financial assistance, planned for Romania by the European Commission (for regional and other projects) for the period of 2007-2013, amounts to more than € 13 billion.
