President Plevneliev attends ASEM summit

Bulgarian President Rossen Plevneliev is visiting the capital of Laos, Vientiane to attend the 9th edition of the Summit of headsof states and governments of the countries from the Association of SouthEast Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM). The motto of the meeting is «Friends for Peace, Partners for Prosperity».

President Plevneliev talked with the Prime Minister of Vietnam Nguyen Tan Tung. Bulgaria is ready to allow access to its Black Sea and Danubean ports for Vietnamese exports to European markets, the Bulgarian head of state said. Later he met with the Prime Minister of the Republic of Korea Kim Hwang-sik who said that his country would support the candidature of Bulgarian Irina Bokova for a second mandate as Director General of UNESCO.

During the talks with Chinese Prime Minister Wen Jiabao, Rossen Plevneliev voiced hope that Bulgaria would be hosting the next Summit of the Secretariat of China for cooperation with countries from Central and East Europe. The Premier of China pointed out that in the condition of economic and financial crisis Bulgaria displays a culture of stability, succeeding to preserve an open market and presenting good conditions for investors.
