Georgia informs Turkey about BTK construction progress

Georgian Minister for Regional Development and Infrastructure David Narmania and Turkish Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador to Georgia Levant Murat Burkhan discussed construction of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars Railway (BTK).

Special attention was paid to the Marabda-Tetritskaro-Tsalka-Akhalkalaki-Kartsakhi railway line. Narmania described the progress and the economic benefits the railway will bring to Turkey, Georgia and Azerbaijan.

The BTK line includes construction of a new 105-km line, reconstruction of the Akhalkalaki-Marabda-Tbilisi section (to increase capacity to 15 million tons of cargo annually) and construction of a facility to switch from Georgian railway guage to the European one at Akhalkalaki.
