Moldovan state enterprises' heads to receive lower salaries

The managers of enterprises in which the state holds most shares and of the state-run monopolies will be entitled to three average monthly salaries paid in the companies they head. Presently, they are entitled to five average salaries.

The government on October 31 gave the go-ahead to a draft law on the matter put forward by a group of lawmakers. The draft also says that the managers' maximum annual bonus shall not exceed six monthly salaries and shall be paid depending on the economic and financial results of the enterprise.

Labour, Social Protection and Family Minister Valentina Buliga said at the government's meeting that these legislative amendments would do away with the excessive discrepancy between the salaries of managers and employees and would motivate the first to increase the employees salaries.

Prime Minister Vlad Filat said that the managers should be remunerated based on the enterprise's profitability.
