Staff of Georgia’s Poti on strike

The Georgian Black Sea port of Poti started a strike at 9 am. Workers demand higher wages and better labour conditions, as stated by Koka Sajaya, organizer of the trade union, Trend reports.

He explained that not a single demand has been fulfilled. The trade union was formed yesterday and consists of 17 leaders.

About 100 railway workers had a two-hour strike yesterday. The trade union of railroad staff and the United Trade Unions of Georgia joined the strike.

The strikers gave authorities 24 hours to fulfill their demands. Refusal to make concessions will provoke further actions, they say.
