Eurocommission will freeze Euro 7 billion worth of funds for Romania in the near future

Internet portal Gandul, referring to diplomatic sources, reports that an official statement on this will be made by the EU Commissioner Johannes Hahn in the nearest future.

The funds will be frozen in the framework of the Sectoral Operational Programme for transport and competitiveness sectors.

As it became known, payments on these sectors have been suspended since July due to non-compliance with EU rules on tender system transparency and doctoring of deficit records.

For 2007-2013 Romania has been allocated 19.2 billion Euros for development projects. As of September 30, 2012 Bucharest has drawn only 9.7% of that amount.
