New Georgian government, having refused from building Lazika port city, decides to develop port of Anaklia

Candidate to Minister of Economy position Georgi Kvirikashvili has told reporters about this.

«Lazika City will not be built with taxpayers' money,» - he said.

According to Kvirikashvili, there were projects more important for the country, and attention and financial resources should be focused on those.

«There exists port of Anaklia; experts say, it has a great potential. It should be examined, and if investors have interest to finance this infrastructure project, the state will only welcome this,»- said the candidate.

Meanwhile, construction of the Lazika port city near the port and resort of Anaklia in western Georgia, has already started. According to preliminary information, the new government will limit itself in Lazika to shore protection works. As for Anaklia, this is a new port, considered to be the deepest in Georgia.
