Number of tourists in Georgia grew by 56%

In January – September 2012 the number of foreign citizens, crossing the Georgian borders, has amounted to 3 229 190 persons, which is by 56% more than in the same period of 2011.

1 281 351 people from the European countries (excluding the CIS) have visited Georgia (37.7% of all visitors), which is by 96% more than in 2011. For nine months of 2012 the number of tourists from the CIS countries has equaled to 1 793 286 (55.5% of all visitors), which is by 37% more than in 2011.

Azerbaijan has ensured the largest portion of visitors out of the total number of people from the CIS countries (684 094–38.1% of all visitors from the CIS). The number of guests from this country has grown by 32%. 636 497 visitors have entered Georgia from Armenia (35.5% from the total number of people from the CIS), which is by 24% more than in 2011.
