UN recommends Bulgaria to build two more NPPs

As part of measures against global warming two more nuclear power plants should be built in Bulgaria. This term is fixed in the agreement that UN recommends to adopt as national strategy to the organization’s member countries.

According to a report by the World Nuclear Association, 559 NPPs should be built in the world before 2030 to replace thermal power stations, explained «Intertek Moody» head in Bulgaria Mr. Ivan Savov.

New NPPs must have an exceptionally high level of security that will allow them to survive increased natural disasters: earthquakes, devastating storms, etc., said Savov.

New plants’ capacity will be less than current ones. According to the UN strategy, all countries should introduce rules of energy efficiency, thus reducing energy consumption by 30%.
