Moldovan parliament ratifies CIS free trade agreement

The parliament ratified the free trade agreement within the Commonwealth of Independent States on 27 September.

All the MPs present at the meeting voted for the ratification of the agreement. The document was signed at Sankt-Petersburg on 18 October 2011. It provides on the exclusion of the taxes on import and export of several products to the CIS member states.

Deputy Prime Minister, Economics Minister Valeriu Lazar said this agreement is important for Moldova, as it will ensure a stable framework with the CIS countries, which are the main trade partners for Moldova. «The agreement will exclude the appearance of eventual bans on behalf of Moldova's CIS partners,» Lazar said.

The agreement will come into force within 30 days after it is ratified by the parliament.
