Ukrainian companies reduced cargo transportations in january-august

In January-August 2012, transport companies carried 509.9 million tons of cargoes, which is 3.4% less than the in same period last year. This was reported by the State Statistics Service.

Turnover totaled 261.6 billion ton-km (7.2% less than in January-August 2011).

Railways increased turnover by 0.1%. Odessa railway increased cargo transportations by 4.3%, Yuzhnaya – by 3.6%, Yugo-Zapadnaya – by 3.1%. Donetsk railway freight turnover decreased by 0.6%, Lvov – by 1.4%, Dnieper – by 4.9%.

The railways increased departure of grain and its products by 1.9 times, building materials – by 6.9%, coke – by 3.8%, chemical and mineral fertilizers – by 0.4%. Departure of mineral carbon fell by 0.5%, iron ore and manganese ore – by 1.2%, ferrous metals – by 5.5%, cement – by 8.8%, timber – by 13.4%, iron–and–steel scrap – by 29.8%, oil and oil products – by 33.1%.

Carriages of cargoes by motor transport increased by 2.8%. Air transportations fell by 12.2%. Transportations through the pipelines decreased by 21.2%, water transport – by 26.5%.
