Explosion rattles major Bulgarian Military Plant

A storage facility at Arsenal Kazanlak, one of Bulgaria's largest military factories, has exploded, the reasons for the explosion being unknown.

The explosion occurred at about 4:35 pm on September 11, according to the Bulgarian Interior Ministry, as cited by BGNES.

It has immediately led to a fire in the storehouse at Arsenal Kazanlak, Bulgaria's major producer of rifles and AK-47s.

The management of the military plant located in the Central Bulgarian town of Kazanlak has not been available for commenting on the incident.

The fire at the storehouse of Arsenal Kazanlak has been tackled by the local fire fighters and the town fire brigade.

There are no reports of killed or injured persons in the military plant explosion. The environmental authorities are yet to measure any levels of pollution as a result of the blast, while the Interior is investigating its causes, the police said.
