Moldovan border police to create mobile patrolling teams

The government September 4 approved a regulation on the Border Police mobile teams, as well as amendments to the road traffic regulation on the patrolling work at the border, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.

The Border Police Department of the Interior Ministry will create mobile teams designed to inspect the supervised territories on larger areas, both at the state border, as well as outside it during the border operations.

The mobile teams will carry out their work in concert with other institutions, among which the Customs Service, General Police Inspectorate, Bureau for Migration and Asylum. To this end, joint mobile teams will be created as well.

These amendments aim at combating illegal migration, human trafficking and other cross-border offences, according to the commitments taken by Moldova in order to implement the action plan on visa free regime with the EU.

No additional spending is needed in order to enforce the new provisions.
