Romanian Railways CFR Freight Division privatisation contract is signed

The privatisation contract for taking up a 51 percent stake in the Romanian Railways Company's (CFR) Freight Division - CFR Marfa - was signed in the afternoon, the Transport Ministry announced.

The contract was signed by the ministry's State Secretary Cristian Ghibu and Grup Feroviar Roman (the Romanian Railway Group GFR) Managing Director Sorin Chinde, ministry sources said. 

Attending the contract signing and initialling ceremony were Transport Minister Ramona Manescu and GFR owner Gruia Stoica. 

The Transport Ministry announced that it hosted, at 4:30 p.m. on Monday, the signing of the contract for the sale-purchase of 51 percent block of shares of the National Railway Freight Company CFR Marfa to Grup Feroviar Roman commercial company. 

The stake was bought for 904.98 million lei (202 million euros).
