Azerbaijan abolishes postal tuition outright

Admission of students to universities for postal tuition will be suspended from 2015, chairman of the Azerbaijani Parliament's Science and Education Committee Shamsaddin Hajiyev told APA.

The Committee Chairman said that the legislation would be amended in this regard and postal tuition would be gradually replaced with distance education: “It is accepted all over the world. There is no postal tuition in any country of the world, but distance education excluding post-Soviet states. This process may be gradually implemented from 2015, when the last students will finish their postal tuition.”

Commenting on the ban imposed by the Ministry of Education on the pedagogical activity of the students getting postal tuition, Hajiyev said that this process is directly under the competence of the executive body and is not related to the legislation.
