Moldovan government approves list of countries to be exempted from visas to Moldova

The Moldovan government today approved a draft law on foreign citizens who will need to get a visa to cross the Moldovan border and foreign citizens who are exempted from this obligation.

The draft law was presented during the cabinet meeting by Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign and European Integration Minister Natalia Gherman. According to her, the current legislative framework does not efficiently regulate the facilitation of the travel regime for the citizens of certain states. Therefore, the draft law is meant to organise, standardise and structure the legal framework in this sector.

According to the draft law, citizens of more than 130 countries will obliged to hold visas when entering, exiting or transiting Moldova. Citizens of other 60 states, such as Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, USA, Japan, Belarus, Germany and others, will be exempted from visas.

The draft law is going to be examined by the parliament.
