Number of refugees to Bulgaria grows

In the first five months of the year the number of persons who have asked for asylum in Bulgaria is higher than throughout the entire 2012, the State Agency for Refugees informs.

By end-May they were 1 400, while over 2012 they were not more than 1 387. In May alone 280 people have asked for protection in Bulgaria, coming from 28 countries. Nearly 1/3 of these refugees come from Syria – over 540 people, followed by refugees from Algeria, Mali, Iraq, Afghanistan and others.
