Tsvetan Tsvetanov gives up immunity

GERB MP and former Interior Minister Tsvetan Tsvetanov asked for his parliamentary immunity to be lifted.

Taking off his immunity was previously demanded by Prosecutor General Sotir Tsatsarov in relation to the investigation on illegal phone tapping on the part of the Ministry of the Interior. According to the Prosecution Tsvetanov has neglected control and has allowed his subordinates to perform the illegal phone tapping.

The scandal was stirred by Socialist leader Sergei Stanishev who filed to the Prosecution Office an anonymous signal he had received during the early elections campaign on May 12. Tsvetan Tsvetanov claims he is innocent.
