Drum Kitchen Berlin, Steve Houben Trio and Antonio Flinta Quartet on stage at Sibiu Jazz Festival in Romania this May

This year, Sibiu Jazz Festival will again welcome important figures of the jazz world to Romania’s Transylvania region. The festival is running between May 12 and May 19 at the Thalia Hall in Sibiu.

The festival’s program includes performances of Drum Kitchen Berlin – (Germany), Steve Houben Trio (Belgium), Seun Kuti & Egypt 80 (Nigeria) and Antonio Flinta Quartet (Italy). Also appearing will be SibiuJazz Festival veteran Omar Sosa with his new Afro-Cuban Quartet (Cuba), Grzegorz Karnas Quintet (Poland), Richard Galliano – Tangaria New Quartet (France), Omri Mor & Andalou Jazz Project (Israel) and Carlos Maza & Familia (Spain).

The story of the festival starts back in early ‘70s, when the first three editions of the National Jazz Festivaltook place in Ploiesti, Romania. In 1974, the festival moved to Sibiu and three years later, in 1977, became an international festival when a group of musicians from Czechoslovakia took part.
