Schools closed in Bucharest due to weather warning for heavy snows

Bucharest’s Schools Inspectorate (ISMB) has canceled all classes in the capital on March 26 due to the weather warnings for heavy snows and blizzards. The decision applies to pre-university educational facilities, meaning schools, high schools. The international schools in Bucharest have not indicated so far if they will close or remain open as normal on March 26.

Classes are currently scheduled to re-start on Wednesday and the Schools Inspectorate said the lost hours will be recovered at the end of the school year.

An orange alert is in place for snow and high winds in Bucharest and several other counties tomorrow (March 26 ) between 04:00 and 14:00. A code yellow for snow is also in place from 20:00 today, in Bucharest, Ilfov, Dâmboviţa, Prahova, Buzău, Giurgiu, Teleorman, Vâlcea, Argeş, Olt, Dolj, Mehedinţi, Gorj, Caraş-Severin, Sibiu, Braşov, Covasna and Vrancea.

According to the Meteorological Association there will be precipitation across Romania from this evening, falling mainly as snow in Oltenia, Muntenia and the Banat and Carpathian mountain. High winds of over 55km/h are also expected.
