Moldovan PM, EU commissioner hold telephone conversation

Prime Minister Vlad Filat held a telephone conversation on February 14 with Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighbourhood Policy Stefan Fule, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.

The officials discussed the Moldovan internal political situation, as well as the Moldovan-European Union relations’ development.

Filat reviewed Moldova’s internal political situation, mentioning the need to continue transformations, so that Moldova becomes a veritable rule of law state, with modern European bodies in the citizens’ service.

Referring to the Moldovan-European Union ties, Filat underlined the importance of completing, in March 2013, the negotiations on an association agreement with the EU, thing that would allow preparing the field for initialling and signing this important agreement.

Filat also reiterated Moldova’s engagement to continue implementing the action plan on a visa free regime, noting the importance of the process for Moldova´s citizens.

Stefan Fule appreciated the evolution of the Moldovan-EU relations and noted Moldova´s already recorded progress at many levels. He said that the EU would continue to back Moldova on its way of democratic reforms implementation and of synchronization with the EU reforms.
