Moldova's currency reserves hit new historical record

Moldova's currency reserves have hit a new historical record of 2 billion 525 million dollars, after recording a 6-million-dollar rise in the last week of January, according to data put out by the National Bank of Moldova (BNM).

The new record is at the level of the one the currency reserves hit on 18 January 2013, when they reached 2 billion 519.7 million dollars. The appreciation of the exchange rates of all currency reserves in relation to the US dollar, have lead to an increase in Moldova’s official reserves in the last week.

According to the BNM, Moldova’s official currency reserves increased by 549.7 million dollars in 2012, against 284 million dollars in 2011.
