State provides financial support for archeology

Archeological excavations through the year in the regions, where large infrastructure projects are in progress, will be sponsored with over EUR 7 million.

For the record, the entire sum provided in the period 2009-2012 has been EUR 6 million. This is an investment in the development of archeology, said in Parliament Minister of Regional Development Lilyana Pavlova. She announced that in the past two weeks archeologists have given information for new archeological sites.

According to Minister Pavlova that means the sum of EUR 1.5 million calculated for the already existing excavation grounds would not be sufficient. She further explained that in 95 percent of the cases when the construction of highways is started, there are new archeological finds popping up. That requires additional time and means and in most cases prolongs the construction process.
