Russia needs to increase grain exports

Peter Chekmaryov, head of the department for plant-growing, chemicalization and plant protection of the Russian Ministry for Agriculture, said that the plan for grain exports in the new agricultural year was below the one needed to compete with other states, RIA Novosti reports.

Russia has an export potential of 15-20 million tons of grain, the official explains. But the exports will only reach 14 million tons, which puts Russia at a risk of losing positions on grain markets.
