Ukrainian unemployment rate up to 1.8% in December - State Statistics Service

In Ukraine, unemployment rate grew by 0.2 percentage points to 1.8% in December 2012.

The State Statistics Service informs.

Thus, as of January 1, 2013, the number of registered jobless persons made up 506,800 (441,300 in November), out of these, 386,300 (327,900) of them received unemployment benefits.

The average unemployment benefit amount per one unemployed person made up UAH 1,028 (UAH 971 in November).

The lowest unemployment rate in 2012 was fixed in October (1.4%, 399,900 persons), the highest - in February (2% or 546,600 persons).

The need of enterprises in workers to occupy vacant working places and vacant positions as of the beginning of the year made up 48,600 persons. 108 persons pretended to 10 working places, against 74 a month earlier.

Out of total number of the unemployed, women make 237,700, whereas men - 233,100.

Since January 1, 2013, the Law came into force «On Employment of Population,» the main task of which is support of the most vulnerable layers of population and creation of new working places.

To remind, by results of 2011, the unemployment rate in Ukraine fell by 0.2 percentage point to 1.8%.
