Romania ceases funding of private clinics from public funds

According to Ukrinform, beginning with March 1, 2013, funding of Romanian private medical institutions from the National Health Insurance Fund will be terminated. This was announced by Romania’s Minister of Health Dr. Eugen Nicolaescu.

Eugen Nicolaescu stressed that «more than 10% of funds, saved through this innovation, will be directed to finance public clinics.» The Minister also warned medical staff of public clinics that if the medical workers would «advise» patients to bring their own medicines from home, they would be discharged immediately.
