ACC compels TV and radio broadcasters to have minimum 30% of own produce in Romanian

Starting from April 1, 2013, all television channels and radio stations in Moldova shall be demanded to have minimum 30% of their own products in the Romanian language, as per the decision taken by the Audiovisual Coordinating Council (ACC).

Mariana Onceanu-Hadarca, an ACC member, initially proposed to make the figure 50%, but the Council disagreed, in a belief that this would be too hard a proportion to implement.

After a long and heated debate, ACC Chairman Marian Pocaznoi suggested to make it 30%. The Council agreed. In addition, the ACC ruled that a half of company’s own production must be broadcasted in the prime time.
