Wine output in Crimea falls

For 11 months of 2012, production of grape wine in Crimea has decreased by 17.8%. Table wine production is down by 15.9%, fortified by 19.1%, champagne by 26.9%  КIА reports .

According to the head of the AR Crimea Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food directorate of food processing industry Mrs. Olga Kopylova, the reason for this was reduced consumer demand due to rising prices. «It's sad that this year we have witnessed growth in production of vodka and brandy, but at the same time grape wine output has been decreasing. This is taking place because since 2010 the excise tax on wine has gone up by 254 times», - explained Kopylova.
